The Finn Lofts - Historic Perspective

Developing a creative community started with creativity at the design level.

The Finn Lofts building was built in the 1920s to be a broom factory before John Finn, the building’s namesake, purchased it in 1971. Finn is known among the Wichita art community because, at one time, he owned 6 buildings on Commerce Street and carried the notes for artists so they could lease-to-own the warehouses lining Commerce Street. Finn was instrumental in creating the Commerce Arts District, a place where many artists work and play today.

Converting this warehouse into downtown luxury apartment lofts was no easy task. It took careful planning to bring this historic structure into modern times with all the contemporary touches that prospective tenants demand today. El Dorado Architects were up to the challenge and accomplished the impossible to such a high design standard that The Finn Lofts were recognized by national organizations and publications.
